Software Development
I have over 14 years experience programming and developing object oriented applications with tools such as PowerBuilder, VB.NET and C++. Also very experienced using PL/SQL Developer, dBArtisan, Microsoft Access, Business Objects and Cognos for Database Management and Reporting Purposes. Develop software systems for various Smartstream Financial Modules. Over 9 years working with two large international Financial Institutions.
Work Achievements
Work with the Ohio State Government as the lead developer with responsibility for two PowerBuilder, and various VB.NET and ASP.NET applications. Was responsible for developing major upgrades to two existing applications using VisualStudio.NET.
Worked on the integration of MBNA and Bank of America credit card systems. This was a huge effort create the Largest Credit Card company in the World, spanning three continents. My effort involved enhancing the customer service application with custom n-Tier screens to capture various new requirements for the New Bank of America Card Services TSS System. I also developed code in PowerBuilder that interfaced with the Bank’s Voice Recognition System to enhance and expedite Customer Satisfaction.
Worked at AstraZeneca to provide timely upgrades to their Contract Development PowerBuilder, PFC Database Application, CDAP. I was responsible for re-designing the Wizard that creates Contracts for HMO’s, allowing the staff to run the wizard independently to creating a new contract. This requirement consisted of using User’s Requirements to produce a Technical Design and also developing the required enhancements to the in-house custom application.
As a PowerBuilder Consultant to AirNet I was responsible for Maintaining a Large Customer Service Application. AirNet is an air cargo company and has the largest fleet of Lear Jets in the USA. The Customer Service application managed all aspects of Air Cargo from initial Sales to Invoicing. I worked on a large team that implemented a new webservices based rating engine for customer billing.
At the Caribbean Development Bank I was responsible for automating many systems such as the Billing System, thereby reducing the need to send printed statements to the borrowers.
In 1997 I worked for the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) to develop an Electoral Database system to produce the Voter’s List for the Elections Commission in Guyana. The system was well received by the donor agencies (mainly US and UK). The System is now being used as a model for various other countries in the Caribbean by the OAS (Organization of American States). The 1997 Election was the first locally managed democratic election since 1992 when President Carter’s Carter Center managed the first democratic election in Guyana in 28 years.

Software Consultant responsible for various VB.NET, ASP.NET and PowerBuilder applications. Responsibilities included a major upgrade to a Legacy VB.NET client server application. Also development and maintain VB.NET and PowerBuilder 9 applications.
Software Developer – Tech Lead (March 2007 – May 2008), Bank of America( TEK Systems Consulting), Newark Delaware.
Software Lead Developer responsible for all developments for a large upgrade to the Software. Responsibilities include development of PowerBuilder 10 / Java/ C++ application code to consume various Web Services and Web OLE controls. Also responsible for creating builds and managing releases of the code to testers. Also maintain various UNIX batch jobs, like those used to provide status updates for processes on the distributed network.
PowerBuilder Consultant (December 2006- February 2007), AstraZeneca International, Wilmington Delaware.
Work on a Project to enhance the current Contract Processing Database Application. This is a very large Client Server PFC PowerBuilder 8 application consisting of several thousand windows and datawindows.
The application is used worldwide for developing contracts for existing drugs. The application connects to Oracle and Sybase on the back end.
Software Developer – Tech Lead (April 2006 – November 2006), Bank of America/ MBNA (TEK Systems Consulting), Newark Delaware.
Support and Maintain the TACS Customer Super Station Application(TSS). This is a large n-Tier PowerBuilder 10/ Java/ C++ application consisting of several hundred windows and datawindows.
The application is used by several thousand employees in five countries to provide telephone support services to millions of customers worldwide. The application is a highly evolved PowerBuilder application that PowerBuilder 10 and .NET front end and DB2 and Informix back end and C++,Java and Tuxedo middleware. My impact was development of many PowerBuilder screens to capture new requirements for the new Bank of America Card Services System. Also responsible for setting up and maintaining Build Scripts for NT and UNIX environment.
Software Developer April 2005- April 2006), Airnet Systems Ltd (Rapidigm Consulting), Columbus OH.
Support and Maintain the Customer Service Application. This is a MDI PowerBuilder 9/ Java/.Net application consisting of several hundred windows and datawindows. Develop and maintain stored procedures for the application using PL/SQL for Oracle database. The application encapsulates most business rules in Java code using BEA Web Services. The Web Services used by the application were done in .NET and Java and implemented using SOAP, XML connecting to an Informix Database. Also Support and Maintain the Inventory Application, this is a PowerBuilder / Oracle application consuming web services from Saber. Also worked on Reporting system that was implemented with Business Objects and Crystal reports.
Programmer/ Analyst (August 1998- April 2005), The Caribbean Development Bank, Barbados.
Support and Maintain the Financial Management Information System. This is a cross-platform Unix/NT n-Teir PowerBuilder 9/ Sybase Application consisting of over 270 windows and 210 Stored Procedures. The application also has a web component implemented in Business Intelligence. Use dBartisan and Rapid Sql to create and maintain stored procedures, tables and queries for the application, using Sybase T-SQL. Develop and Maintain Travel Expense system to allow bank officers to process claims using a PowerBuilder 9 Workflow Application. Design and maintain the Automated Records Management System which consists of a number PowerBuilder, VB.NET and Visual C++ Software Modules. Provide support for Unix based application components in the Records Management System. Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automating various Jobs in the Sun Solaris UNIX environment. Such processes include Monthly and Bi-Monthly Billings for all Borrowers.
Systems Manager (January 1997 – July 1998), Guyana Elections Commission, Guyana South America.
Managed high intensity data processing center tasked with producing a Voter’s List in less than 9 months for a population of almost one million. This was a high profile consultancy reporting directly to the Chairman and Board of Directors. My responsibilities included briefs to the media and donor agencies as to the progress of the Voter’s List and hence the country’s readiness for the impending election. The job required establishing hardware and software for the system and developing a Microsoft Access/ Visual Basic Database Application with SQL Server on the back end.
Programmer/ Analyst (March 1992 – December 1996), Guyana Sugar Corporation.
Develop a financial application capEX, for managing the Capital Budgets on the eight Sugar Estates, using dBase IV. Develop an Inventory application mainly used to combine and standardize item descriptions across the industry using dBaseIV and Oracle. Also managed a WAN project to provide Voice and Data Communications for 10 remote geographically dispersed locations.
